The project will look to spread the delivery of the sessions across a range of providers but this Application Form will be treated as a competitive bid and there is no guarantee of work from this process. There is limited budget available from the Outdoor Tourism Project for this purpose. Once all applications are received a panel will sit to consider the activities put forward and you will be notified as to whether your application was successful.

The aim of the Outdoor Tourism sessions

The project recognises the importance of engaging and inspiring our local communities to get involved recreationally in Outdoor Activities. Taster sessions offer people the opportunity to try activities that they would not normally do. The project aims to create a route into clubs for people wishing to continue with activities. The project will do this through development training with volunteers from clubs, and from the community. The project also looks to provide training and skills for local people to support individuals to progress as either a competent participant or a competent volunteer.

Key considerations:

  • Ensuring that activities can be accessed by all regardless of race, sex, age, religion, health, and ability
  • We are keen to attract people who would not normally access this sort of activity especially due to age, health or economic situation, so we are interested in courses specially aimed at these groups
  • We are keen that local people who like an activity can carry on with it and either follow a route for further qualifications or to join or set up a club
  • Outdoor ‘Adventure’ type activities are sought under the project for example kayaking, bouldering, coasteering, climbing, abseiling, mountain walking, mountain biking, kite surfing, Stand Up Paddleboarding, Sailing etc

The Application Form must be completed and returned by 30th April 2013 for consideration.
